High school
is arguably the toughest period in a man's life. Generally,
it's when guys hit puberty and experience all the awkward
things that come along with it... and we all know how cruel
kids can be at times. Among other hurdles, adolescent males
tend to be insecure about their appearance, usually face tremendous
peer pressure, and to top it off, they start mingling with
the ladies, a daunting experience at any age. Basically, high
school is the time when boys grow to be men and start building
their future reputation.
Looking
back on my high school days, there were a couple of "life
lessons" I wish someone had taught me as a freshman,
one of them being the basics of grooming. So I decided to
take care of that for you today: all you have to do is follow
this simple six-step routine, which covers your grooming needs
from head to toe in no time.
Step
1: Shampoo & condition your hair
Why? Good
hygiene is a must. And you don't want to be nicknamed the
"Crisco kid."
Wash and
condition your hair in one simple step with this 2 in 1 shampoo
and conditioner, saving you time and money. With ingredients
like peppermint and jojoba essential oil, milk protein, and
Shea butter, Mission: Control Conditioning Shampoo is also
good for your hair. It offers a rich, creamy lather that will
invigorate, moisturize and soften your hair. Simply lather,
feel the tingle for a few seconds, and rinse thoroughly.
Step
2: Wash your face & body
Why? In
case you skipped over it the first time, proper hygiene is
essential. You don't want your peers to call you "stinky"
or "grease monkey."
The second
step in your daily routine is to wash your face and body.
And you can do both with the same product: Happy Me All Over
Body Wash is oil-free, so it's good for both your body and
face. Rich in grapefruit, papaya and ginseng extracts, as
well as almond protein, it's actually better for your skin
than most soap bars; it exfoliates, freshens, moisturizes,
and nourishes your skin for a clean and healthy look. While
you're in the shower, apply it all over and rinse.
Step
3: Shave with shave gel
Why? Facial
hair can look cool at times but peach fuzz, on the other hand,
looks like you forget to clean your mouth after breakfast.
If you're
a victim of peach fuzz, Kid Glove Shave Gel is the perfect
shaving gel to finally get rid of it. It's oil-free and turns
into a transparent gel once applied to your skin, so you can
actually see what you're doing. It includes ingredients like
glycerin, which provides easy glide, and Gotu kola and rosemary
leaf extracts, to soothe and help your skin heal. Simply massage
a thin layer onto damp skin and wait 30 seconds. Then, using
short strokes, shave with the grain and repeat until you're
done. I suggest shaving before you shower.
Step
4: Protect your face with hydrating gel
Why? Image
is everything, whether you're in high school or at the office,
and your face is the first thing people notice about you --
so make sure it looks its best at all times.
The fourth
step in your grooming routine is protecting and moisturizing
your mug. Do it with this light, oil-free moisturizing facial
gel; it's fully loaded with botanicals and antioxidants, in
order to combat razor burn and dry skin caused by the sun
and other environmental pollutants. Kid Glove Hydrating Gel
features Gotu kola and rosemary leaf extracts to soothe and
purify, and aloe leaf and algae extracts to help heal and
hydrate your skin. Apply an even layer onto your clean face
every morning.
Step
5: Apply pit guard
Why? Put
it on to prevent B.O. and avoid negative attention from those
sitting next to you.
For those
of you who don't know, B.O. is short for body odor. Unlike
other underarm products that simply mask odor, this anti-itch
formula contains tea tree oil designed to combat bacteria
at the source. Happy Me Pit Guard is unscented, so you don't
have to worry about the smell being overly aggressive. Apply
daily.
Step
6: Style your hair
Why? It's
your hair dude; you gotta make sure it's styling at all times.
This premium
hair paste provides complete control; it works on long or
short hair, whether damp or dry. Rub in a little for a natural
look or slightly more for hairstyles that require extra control.
The great thing about Mission: Control Guck-in-a-Puck is that
it reactivates with water -- when your hair is messed up from
sleeping in class -- and washes out with water, when you're
actually going to bed.
So there
you have it; you have passed your lesson on grooming. Twenty
minutes is all you need in the morning to go through these
six simple steps. Grooming is like riding a bicycle: once
you get the hang of it, it'll become second nature.
